Gallery Weekend Berlin | 26.–28. April 2013
51 galleries and the same number of exhibition openings will invite at the Gallery Weekend Berlin 2013 from the 26th until the 28th of April international visitors, art lovers, collectors and curators to experience a diverse and concentrated cross-section of the recent art production. Over the past decade, the art city of Berlin managed to develop an internationally distinctive profile through the Gallery Weekend.
Renowned Berlin galleries present the top class of worldwide exhibiting artists, and since last year also young galleries take increasingly part at the Gallery Weekend, which thereby gets an open and experimental train, as this is only possible in Berlin. This way, the entire spectrum of a thriving city of art will receive the appropriate attention in a compact time frame at wider local distribution.
The growth of the Gallery Weekend 2013 is remarkable, but not surprising after the end of Berlin Fair and the Art Forum Berlin as a leading fair for current contemporary art in Europe. As one of the leading events of contemporary art, the Gallery Weekend has long since arrived at the inveterate. This fact is also evident in the annually rising number of international collectors who transform the weekend of the Berlin Galleries into one of the best-selling dates of the art market. The scheduling proximity to Art Cologne, from the 18th until the 22nd of April, makes the Gallery Weekend even more attractive for international visitors.
