The arrondissement and districts of the metropolis at the Seine have to the idea of the city´s architect Baron Haussmann their own character, whose reputation extends far beyond the city limits: thus the Quartier Latin with the Sorbonne University is considered the scholarly quarter, Montparnasse with its famous cafes as a center of artistic bohemia by Picasso, Braque, Modigliani and Sentier as the fashion district. On the prêt-à-porter shows, the haute couture charmes the fashion world with their creations. Here, the sophistication and the way of life of this much celebrated city is most visible.
